"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

In Acts 1:8, the Lord Jesus told his disciples they would receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon them, and that power would make them effective witnesses. The word power in this context means power that works! The Greek rendering is "Dunamis"; it signifies inherent powerpower that reproduces itself; its the root word from which we get the English, dynamo.

A dynamo is a device that generates electrical power through the conversion of mechanical energy. So, the term "dynamo" is often used to describe a generator that continuously generates power without requiring external assistance. This is the kind of power at work in you today. Its a miracle-working ability.

This power has made you an effective witness to your world. A witness is one who possesses evidence and proof; hes one whos called to testify of what he knows. So, should you ever feel weak as a witness, activate the power within you! Paul explains how to do this in Ephesians 5:18-20; its by getting yourself drunk in the Holy Ghost!

Also, in 1 Corinthians 14:4, the Bible says, He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself... In other words, when you speak in tongues, you activate the power within you and make it effectual, if it had been lying dormant. There is power inside youinherent power. Its the power that works; with it, you can produce anything.

Prayer

Dear Father, I thank you for the inherent power I have received through the indwelling of the Holy Ghost. Im always afire, burning with zeal and passion for the work of the Lord, winning souls everywhere because Im an effective witness, functioning by the power of the Holy Ghost, in Jesus Name.
