Travailing Deeply In Prayer For Souls

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)

One of the most powerful lessons Ive learnt in soul winning is the value of persistence in prayer. When youre interceding for someones salvation, you move into deep travailwailing in the Spirit. You already know before entering your place of prayer, Todays prayer is deep travail because you know the worth of a soul.

When the Lord Jesus spoke of the man who found one pearl of great price, He said the man sold all he had to obtain it (Matthew 13:4546). Thats what a soul means to God, and thats what we understand as soul winners that make us groan in prayer and keep pressing until a soul is won and established in the Kingdom.

When you intercede like this, you continue in the Spirit until theres a release. The love of Christ compels you. Youre not praying out of selfish interest. Youre not crying in prayer over someone you want to marry or do business with; its strictly for their salvation. Youre driven by love and the Spirits burden for a life that must be transformed, a soul that must be won for Christ.

Read our opening scripture again; it lets you know that in the place of intercession, you pray passionately that the light of the glorious gospel of Christ shines in the hearts of those who havent yet known the Lord, prevailing over darkness, religion and deception.

You dont stop; you declare that every resistance in their hearts to the Gospel is broken, theyre delivered from Satans dominion, and as they hear the message, their hearts are open to receive it for their salvation. Hallelujah!

Remember, The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working] (James 5:16 AMPC). Your heartfelt intercessory prayers will make the required power available for their salvation.

Prayer

Dear Father, thank you for counting me faithful and committing to me the ministry of reconciliation. Im stirred and compelled by your love to intercede for the lost, praying with passion and divine urgency. And as I do, theyre delivered from darkness into light, and from the power of Satan unto God. Amen.
